Dual 2020 NFL Mock Drafts

Not even two full days before 2020 NFL Mock Drafts become obsolete but the senior writers at Couch Potato General Manager put their heads together to identify what we “think” will happen over the course of three rounds in the 2020 NFL Draft. Furthermore, we each did an individual 3-round mock draft based on what we would do if we were in charge of all 32 teams. Below you will find my personal mock draft as well as our collaborative selections. I invite you to check out the video below if you’d like to see all of our picks throughout the first three rounds.

1. Cincinnati Bengals

MY Pick – No need to overthink this thing. Selecting Joe Burrow is the easy part. It’ll be up to Head Coach Zac Taylor to decide whether he wants to continue to emulate Sean McVay’s offense or fashion a system not unlike Joe Brady at LSU considering how effective Burrow was in 2019-2020.

THEIR Pick – Joe Burrow. No really… stop wasting time.

2. Washington Redskins

MY Pick – I don’t think trading down to the 5th or 6th pick whilst acquring significant draft capital should be summarily dismissed. However, I strongly disagree with passing on Young because you’re concerned about getting Young, Montez Sweat and Ryan Kerrigan on the field. That’s a good problem to have. Can’t wait to see the 3-3-5 look with all three standing up and hunting the QB.

THEIR Pick – Chase Young. Again, don’t waste our time… make the pick.

3. Detroit LionsDetroit Lions

MY Pick – Trade down? Sure. Jeff Okudah/Derrick Brown? I don’t hate it. But I LOVE what Isaiah Simmons brings to the table for a defense that needs more teeth at all three levels. Teams let Derwin James slide too far in the draft a couple years ago because they weren’t sure what to do with him. I say embrace Simmons’ James-like versatility and playmaking ability. Do your job coaching staff and you not only have a star, but an improved defense as well.

THEIR Pick – TRADE. Justin Herbert. The Los Angeles Chargers trade up and give the Detroit Lions the 6th, 37th, 112th and a 2021 3rd Round Pick for the 3rd pick overall.
