It’s draft week! And here is my one mock draft of the year. 2020 NFL Mock Draft 1.Only
ROUND 1
1 |
Cincinnati – Joe Burrow, QB, LSU: This pick is all but guaranteed, as the Bengals look to land their first franchise QB since Carson Palmer. Burrow has all the makings of a top-tier signal caller. |
2 |
Washington – Chase Young, EDGE, Ohio State: With a young, talented quarterback already in town, Washington elects to go with Chase Young, the gifted pass rusher who could change the mold of the defense in short order. |
3 |
Detroit – Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio State: This is a prime trade spot, but since I’m not including trades in this mock, Detroit lands an elite cover man in Okudah. |
4 |
NY Giants – Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa: The Giants love big linemen from big schools, and Wirfs fits the bill. I prefer Jedrick Wills, but this is about what I think will happen. |
5 |
Miami – Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama: Miami doesn’t have a long-term QB prospect on its roster right now. Tua is the answer. With Ryan Fitzpatrick there, they can afford to be patient with the rookie. |
6 |
LA Chargers – Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon: Tyrod Taylor is in line to start early. But Herbert has the tools to be the #1 guy early in his career. |
7 |
Carolina – Derrick Brown, DL, Auburn: The Panthers need depth and an infusion of talent along the defensive line. A prospect like Brown adds both immediately. |
8 |
Arizona – Javon Kinlaw, DL, South Carolina: Some circles prefer Kinlaw over Brown, and it’s not hard to see why. He’ll provide some juice and attitude to the Cards’ defensive front. |
9 |
Jacksonville – Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson: Gone are the days of the young and talented Jacksonville defense. Simmons is the first brick in laying a new foundation. |
10 |
Cleveland – Jedrick Wills, OT, Alabama: Cleveland has a gaping hole at left tackle, and Wills is big, skilled and talented enough to fill it from day one. |
11 |
NY Jets – K’Lavon Chaisson, EDGE, LSU: The Jets spent big at offensive tackle in free agency, so they go with the edge rusher in Chaisson. |
12 |
Las Vegas – Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama: There’s a huge void of talent at wideout in Vegas. The Raiders have their of the litter with Jeudy being the first receiver off the board. |
13 |
San Francisco (from Indianapolis) – CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma: Lamb is the type of explosive weapon the Miners need at receiver to complement the rugged running game. |
14 |
Tampa Bay – Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia: With Tom Brady at QB, the Bucs need to ensure they have all the protection they can get for the aging star. |
15 |
Denver – Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama: The pure speed of Ruggs is a perfect fit across from Cortland Sutton. And another building block for young QB Drew Lock. |
16 |
Atlanta – C.J. Henderson, CB, Florida: With the dismissal of Desmond Trufant, the Falcons get younger with Henderson as his replacement and the future. |
17 |
Dallas – Yetur Gross-Matos, EDGE, Penn State: Yes, the Cowboys brought in Aldon Smith, but can you really count on him to be there? Gross-Matos is raw, but had the tools to grow into a leader of the defense. |
18 |
Miami (from Pittsburgh) – Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville: After grabbing a QB earlier, the Dolphins go get some protection for Tua. |
19 |
Las Vegas (from Chicago) – Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU: Fulton is one of the more underrated players in this class. He’ll step in and contribute from day one, as the CB ranks are depleted in Vegas. |
20 |
Jacksonville (from LA Rams) – A.J, Epenesa, EDGE, Iowa: Jacksonville looks to return to “Sacksonville” with the help of Epenesa. He’s a big powerful pass rusher in the mold of Calais Campbell. |
21 |
Philadelphia – Justin Jefferson, WR, LSU: Philly gets the talent at receiver they are in dire need of. Jefferson can be a star in this offense. |
22 |
Minnesota (from Buffalo) – Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama: McKinney can be the third safety early and be ready to take over, as Anthony Harris is likely out in free agency after 2020. |
23 |
New England – Jordan Love, QB, Utah State: I’m quite sure no one is expecting Jared Stidham to be the future of the Patriots QB position. Love is a bit raw, but has the attributes to be that guy. |
24 |
New Orleans – Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma: The Saints don’t have many holes on that roster and look to replace Kiki Alonso, as he suffered another injury in 2019. Murray is a tackling machine who could blossom here. |
25 |
Minnesota – Jalen Reagor, WR, TCU: Losing Stephon Diggs hurts. Reagor is the type of explosive playmaker who could provide big gains from day one. |
26 |
Miami (from Houston) – J.K. Dobbins, RB, Ohio State: Add another piece to an offense in need of talent. Dobbins will be the lead dog from day one. |
27 |
Seattle – Grant Delpit, S, LSU: Seattle looks to re-fortify the back end of their once vaunted defense. Delpit is a rangy, athletic safety who can be a difference maker early. |
28 |
Baltimore – Patrick Queen, LB, LSU: Linebacker is a staple in Baltimore. Queen is the next in line to attempt to add to that legacy. |
29 |
Tennessee – Josh Jones, OT, Houston: Losing Jack Conklin in free agency hurt. The Titans go with Jones to fill that void. |
30 |
Green Bay – Zach Baun, LB/EDGE, Wisconsin: Baun is versatile and smart. He’ll provide layers of positivity on that Packer defence. |
31 |
San Francisco – Ross Blacklock, DL, TCU: It’s no secret the Niners love numbers asking the defensive line. Blacklock helps ease the loss of Deforest Buckner. |
32 |
Kansas City – Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin: The Chiefs could go in many directions here. They add Taylor as another explosive option on this already dangerous offense. |
