It looked like Serena definitely left her monster first serve in the dressing room today. She gets broken a whopping 6 times, and commits nearly twice as many unforced errors as her opponent. Another major issue was her sloppy footwork, and sluggish movement, which led to countless off-target, off balance shots. Until she seemed to wake up down 5-1 in the second, it was as if she lacked the will to stay in the longer points, in which she was unable to put the ball away and found herself actually on the defensive. The bottom line is Andreescu showed up today ready for a knock down, drag out brawl, while Williams just showed up … and the player who was visibly, and happily, showing her competitive zeal ended up prevailing.
