Cocktail Of The Week: The Winter

Our Cocktail of the Week series returns with the perfect drink for cold weather… The Winter.

The winter cocktail is a classic recipe from the first part of the 1900s and it has been adapted for modern spirits. It is a wonderfully warming drink—even if it is served cold—and is one of those gems lost to time that is absolutely worth the reintroduction.

  • 2 ounces rum
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ginger liqueur (or ginger brandy)
  • 1 teaspoon pimento dram
  • 2 dashes aromatic bitters (Angostura)

In a cocktail shaker, combine the rum, juice, sugar, and liqueurs and filled with ice.

  1. Shake well.

  2. Strain into a cocktail glass.

  3. Add dashes of bitters on top.
