Legendary singer nicknamed “The Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin, is gravely ill and surrounded by family members according to Fox13 Memphis.
Franklin, born was March 25, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee. Her family moved to Detroit when she was young. At 18 Franklin began singing R&B after beginning in the church. She signed with Atlantic Records in 1967. She earned 18 Grammy Awards and a Presidential Medal of Freedom during her storied career. In 2005, she was recognized by then-President George W. Bush who described her as “a woman of achievement, deep character and I loving heart.”
