Monsanto Ordered to pay $289 Million to School Groundskeeper Now Dying Of Cancer

Dewayne Johnson, a pest-control manager for a school district in northern California from 2012 to 2016 used Roundup 20 to 30 times per year, after two on-the-job accidents that doused him from head to toe with the product, Johnson is now dying of cancer.


Roundup’s active ingredient, glyphosate,  is classified as a probable cancer causing carcinogen by The World Health Organization. After exposure to the chemical Johnson developed boils on his skin. .  In 2014, he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, Johnson now 46, has been told by his doctors that they expect that he will die within six months.

Monsanto has vowed to appeal the ruling, but that will be costly if they lose because the interest that they will be responsible for could be somewhere around $25 million per year.
