The Atlanta Hawks cut future hall of famer Carmelo Anthony early Monday morning, paving the way for him to clear waivers on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
The ever aware businessman will get all of the $27.9 million salary for the 2018-19 season, accepting a $2.4 million reduction in his buyout with the Hawks but will get all of that back once he signs $2.4 million veteran’s-minimum deal with his new team.
Years of max deals are definitely over for this seasoned veteran but he still has some game left and will be able to prove it to the world and compete for a championship at the same time.
The new starting lineup once Melo signs will be formidable. Chris Paul at point guard, James Harden shooting guard, PJ Tucker small forward, Carmelo Anthony power forward, and Clint Capela at center.
