2018 NFL Mock Draft – Final: Full 7 Rounds

The 2018 NFL Draft is upon us, and it’s time to get into our final mock draft of the season. It’s a full seven rounds with projected trades!

2018 NFL MOCK DRAFT

ROUND 1

Its… almost… here! Draft day is merely a few short days away. After all the movement during the college football season, underclassmen declarations, all-star games, the combine and team visits, we’re all set on where we see players selected in the 2018 NFL Draft in Dallas.

Welp, here it goes! Comment below and let me know what you think.

1-1-1 Cleveland Browns-Sam Darnold, QB, USC

sam-darnold

-Despite speculation that the Brown are leaning towards Josh Allen, i’m giving GM John Dorsey the benefit of the doubt that he’ll make the best decision here. Darnold just does not present the high possibility to bust that Allen does.

1-2-2 New York Giants-Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State

-The Giants will be tempted to trade down here. But they stay put and go with Barkley, adding a dangerous weapon to take pressure off of Eli Manning and the passing game. A back like this will payoff big in the NFC East for years to come.

1-3-3 New York Jets (from IND)-Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma

Mayfield appears to be the guy with which the Jets have become enamored. What he lacks in stature, Mayfield makes up for in accuracy, smarts and leadership. My only concern would be a personality like Baker Mayfield residing anywhere near NYC!

1-4-4 Cleveland Browns (from HOU)-Bradley Chubb, EDGE, NC State

-Cleveland will be bombarded with trade offers here, but decide to add a bookend to 2017 first-overall pick, Myles Garrett. Chubb offers a skill set that complements Garrett quite well. The Browns continue to stockpile young pieces vital to compete in the AFC North.

1-5-5 Denver Broncos-Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame

-While quarterback is definitely an option, I believe John Elway believes in Case Keenum more than most think. Also, I’m not sure he’s quite ready to give up on Paxton Lynch. Nelson would step right in and provide another physical, nasty blocker next to the equally ill-tempered Garett Bolles.

1-6-6 Buffalo Bills (from NYJ via IND)-Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming

-The Bills trade up and get their quarterback of the future in Allen. While not ready to play right away, Allen possesses the size, arm strength and athleticism to become a viable starter. He could be worth the wait if the Bill are patient with him.

1-7-7 Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Derwin James, S, Florida State

-Tampa needs playmakers in the defensive backfield. James provides playmaking in spades, as well as physicality and leadership. He’s a better athlete than football player at this point, so there is some risk. However, all the tools are there for James to become a top-flight NFL safety.

1-8-8 Chicago Bears-Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Virginia Tech

edmunds

-The Bears defense is steadily improving, but is still short on identity-establishing talent. Edmunds, at just 19-years-old, has the attributes to become that kind of player. He could be the next great Chicago Bears middle linebacker.

1-9-9 San Francisco 49ers-Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia

-Value meets potential critical need here. With Reuben Foster’s future in limbo right now, Smith would be a perfect step-in. And if Foster is able to play and stay clean off the field, he and Smith would be reminiscent of Patrick Willis/Navorro Bowman times in the Bay Area.

1-10-10 Oakland Raiders-Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State

-The Raiders have holes on all three levels of that defense — DT, LB and CB. However, corner is the most pressing need and Ward is the best player available of those positions. If 2017 first rounder, Gareon Conley, is healthy, this could be the makings of a remarkable young due in Silver and Black.

1-11-11 Miami Dolphins-Vita Vea, DT, Washington

-With Ndamukong Suh no longer a Dolphin and Jordan Phillips being highly inconsistent, Miami brings in the immensely talented Vea. While he’s still a bit rough around the edges, he has the big body and uncanny movement skills to be a terror on the interior.

1-12-12 Indianapolis Colts (from CIN via BUF)-Isaiah Wynn, OG, Georgia

-In a pick exchanged with Buffalo, the Colts address that porous offensive line. Isaiah Wynn is a perfect addition with the expected return of Andrew Luck and a hopeful resurgence in the running game.

1-13-13 Washington-Minkah Fitzpatrick, S/CB, Alabama

-Fitzpatrick falls further than expected and Washington pounces on him. Minkah would be a likely upgrade over anyone not named Josh Norman on the backend of that Washington defense.

1-14-14 Green Bay Packers-Harold Landry, EDGE, Boston College

sean-martin_dallas-cowboys_seans-scout-cowboys-can-fix-rde-problems-with-bcs-harold-landry

-The days of Clay Matthews being a dominant pass rusher have passed and Green Bay is in serious need of some juice off the edge. Landry possesses a lightning-quick first step and underrated power, making him an ideal fit for the Packers.

1-15-15 Arizona Cardinals-Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA

-One of the highly-touted quarterbacks are destined to fall — it happens every year. This year is Rosen’s turn, and the Cardinals are the beneficiaries. Rosen may not be a fit for every team, personality-wise, but should fit in well in Arizona. He lands in a much better spot for long-term projections.

1-16-16 Baltimore Ravens-Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama

-I’ve vacillated on this pick for a while, and now I’m back full-circle. Ridley, while not my highest-rated receiver in this class, becomes the first off the board. The additions of Michael Crabtree and Willie Snead should do nothing to deter the Ravens from upgrading at wideout.

1-17-17 Los Angeles Chargers-Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville

-A bit of a shocker midway through round one. Phillip Rivers is nearing 40 years of age and can’t play forever. Anthony Lynn produced really good years from from Tyrod while in Buffalo. Lamar Jackson could thrive here.

1-18-18 Atlanta Falcons (from SEA)-Da’Ron Payne, DT, Alabama

B9326858019Z.1_20170324201624_000_GJ1HRJKEK.1-0

-Atlanta trades up to get the big man from Alabama. Payne, next to Grady Jarrett, would  pose a formidable threat to NFC South offenses.

1-19-19 Dallas Cowboys-Leighton Vander Esch, LB, Boise State

vander

-The Cowboys desperately need an influx of athleticism on the second level. Vander Esch is productive, big and agile, causing the Cowboys to jump at the chance to bring him in.

1-20-20 Detroit Lions-Derrius Guice, RB, LSU

-The Lions have consistently trotted out one of the league’s most underwhelming rushing attacks. Adding a physical, dynamic runner like Guice will bring a new dimension to the entire offense.

1-21-21 Cincinnati Bengals (from BUF)-James Daniels, C, Iowa

-As most centers are, Daniels is criminally undervalued. The Bengals get better by losing veteran Russell Bodine in free agency and selecting Daniels.

1-22-22 Indianapolis Colts (from KC via BUF)-Marcus Davenport, EDGE, UTSA

-With the second of two first rounders from Buffalo, the Colts get a promising pass rusher. Davenport is raw and from a small school, but has all the physical traits to become a game-changer.

1-23-23 New England Patriots (from LAR)-Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame

636275128743144814-USATSI-8816564

-New England sees the best offensive tackle in the class fall right into their laps. McGlinchey is a classic Pats lineman…solid, safe and technically sound.

1-24-24 Carolina Panthers-Jaire Alexander, CB, Louisville

-Some argue that Alexander is the best corner in the draft. I’m one of them. The Panthers get an absolute steal at 24, and fill a huge hole in the process.

1-25-25 Tennessee Titans-Rashaan Evans, LB, Alabama

-Evans is a thumper and one of the more physically taxing linebackers in the draft. While he’s an average testing athlete, the tape speaks for itself. Tennessee use his presence.

1-26-26 Seattle Seahawks (from ATL)-Josh Jackson, CB, Iowa

-The rebuilding of the Legion of Boom begins with Jackson, a ball-hawking, lengthy cover man with a penchant for making big plays in big games. Kinda sounds like the man he’d replace.

1-27-27 New Orleans Saints-D.J. Moore, WR, Maryland

-This may seem like a luxury pick, but the Saints really need a dynamic receiver opposite Michael Thomas. Moore is well-built and explosive, and would be absolutely dangerous in this offense.

1-28-28 Pittsburgh Steelers-Justin Reid, S, Stanford

maxresdefault

-The signings of Morgan Burnett and Jon Bostic lessen the needs at safety and linebacker, respectively. This gives Pittsburgh the opportunity to get he best player at a position of need. Reid is smart, fast and physical…a classic Steelers prospect.

1-29-29 Jacksonville Jaguars-Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU

-The Jags need to continue to add weapons on offense if they want to be perennial threats in the AFC. Sutton is the kind of big, physical receiver who can win combat-catch opportunities and create mismatches.

1-30-30 Minnesota Vikings-Will Hernandez, OG, UTEP

-With all the money being invested in Kirk Cousins, the Vikings need to do everything possible to upgrade the portion up front. Hernandez is a tone-setter and would also make life easier on Dalvin Cook in the run game.

1-31-31 New England Patriots-Lorenzo Carter, LB/EDGE, Georgia

-Carter is the kind of versatile, athletic defender that New England makes stars of. His blend of length, range and upside will conjure memories of Willie McGinest in Foxboro.

1-32-32 Philadelphia Eagles-Connor Williams, OT, Texas

-With very few holes on the roster, the champs can afford to take a player who may need some work, but has extreme upside. Williams can sit and refine for a year if need be, and be inserted once Jason Peters hands it up.
