Kendrick Lamar joins a prestigious list of writers that have managed to win a Putlizer Prize over its 99 year history.
Lamar’s 3rd album “Damn” was announced as a winner of the Putlizer Prize for music in 2018 marking another milestone that the young Compton rapper has managed to achieve in his short career. He also won a grammy for the same album earlier this year.
The Pulitzer board wrote of “Damn”, “A virtuosic song collection, unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life.” Translation: they really liked it.
Now if we can get the board to settle this who invented trap music question we can all be at peace.
