The New York Jets sent a package of picks to the Indianapolis Colts and moved into the third pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
They had the most cap space in the NFL and the Jets have started the new off season swinging. On Saturday, they stayed on the offensive as they moved three spots in the upcoming draft by making a trade with the Indianapolis Colts. To make that happen, they gave up their sixth pick, two 2nd rounders (37th and 49th overall) in this year’s draft, and a 2019 second-rounder. That was costly, but at least they kept their 2019 1st rounder.
In the last week, the Jets have succeeded at getting younger and more talented players. They got Trumaine Johnson and kept Morris Claiborne. Let Demario Davis walk and brought in Avery Williamson from the Titans. I really like adding Isaiah Crowell and Teddy Bridgewater to the offense.
They still have holes to fill in the draft. On my list, I see Offensive Line, Edge Rusher, and Wide Receiver.
Apparently they like Sam Darnold, Josh Allen and Josh Rosen because with this move they will have their pick of one of these QBs.
For a team that has not had a really good Quarterback since Chad Pennington, sometime you have to roll the dice.
Time will tell on this one.
During the season, as the Jets were overachieving and ruining their opportunity of earning the #1 draft pick, my stance was win as many as you can and then trade up if you need to get your guy. Nice to see we are on the same page,
