A Philadelphia Eagles fan has been arrested after punching a police horse at the Eagles-Falcons game.
A Pennsylvania man has been arrested for punching a police horse and the rider at Lincoln Financial Field after this past weekend’s playoff game versus Atlanta.
22-year-old Taylor Hendricks, of Whitehall, PA, was ejected from Saturday’s playoff contest between the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons as he was intoxicated, belligerent and did not have a ticket, per Philadelphia police. After being ejected, officers say, he approached the horse-mounted officer and “began punching the horse in the face, neck and shoulder area.”
“The officer on the horse was then struck in the legs by Hendricks,” police spokesperson Troy Brown said in a statement. “Another officer came over and grabbed the male, who was then placed in custody.”
Brown also noted that neither the officer nor the horse were seriously injured during the incident.
Per online Philadelphia Municipal Court records, Hendricks has been charged with simple assault, aggravated assault, defiant trespassing and taunting a police animal. His court appearance is set for Jan. 30.
The Eagles defeated the Falcons, 15-10, in the playoffs’ divisional round and will host the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday night.
