Michael Bennett: Had Guns Drawn On Me By Police In Vegas

Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Michael Bennett was stopped by Vegas police and had a gun put to his head.

“Do I believe all police officers are bad, No! Do I there are people out there who judge people on the color of their skin, I do believe that!

Bennett stated the incident occurred in the early morning of August 27, preceding the McGregor-Maywheather fight in Vegas. The police apprehended Michael after what sounded like “gun shots” in a crowded area.

In a written statement Bennett wrote the officers “pointed guns at him for doing nothing more than simply being a black man in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

With guns drawn, the police order him to lie on the ground. One officer warned him that he would ” blow my fucking head off” if I moved. While another officer jammed his knee into Bennett’s back as he handcuffed him.

“The officers’ excessive use of force was unbearable. I felt hopeless as I lay there on the ground handcuffed facing the real life threat of being killed. All I could think of was I’m going to die for no other reason that I am black and my skin color is somehow a threat.”

After viewing the video of his brother getting handcuffed and detained Martellus Bennett were overcome by his emotions. ” I cried after seeing the video of Michael.” Espn Editor, His voice cracking and tears screaming down his face as he spoke about what he felt after seeing the newly released video.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Undersheriff Kevin McMahill said Wednesday that his department has launched an internal investigation into the events surrounding the detaining of Bennett, according to Brady Henderson; Espn.
