Former NFL superstar wide receiver Terrell Owens has been cast on the new season of ‘Dancing With The Stars’.
Owens, a six-time Pro Bowler, will be teamed with professional dancer, Cheryl Burke, who won the dancing competition with Hall-of-Famer Emmitt Smith in 2006. Owens stated he has already contacted his friend and former DWTS participant, Chad Johnson, regarding what he should be expecting: “He said it’s going to be a lot of work, but I expect nothing different,” said Owens on Good Morning America. “This is going to be a challenge for me, definitely. I danced as a little kid, but this is nothing like what I’m going to expect, I’m sure.”
Owens played 15 seasons, perfecting his footwork and running routes in the NFL. We shall see how those skills translate to his moves on the dance floor. There has been a broad spectrum of NFL players on the DTWS stage. A few players who were great at celebrating with dance moves after touchdowns couldn’t tango as well as most would expect. Owens still has goals of returning to football and competing for the Lombardi Trophy. However, for now he’ll have an opportunity to join Smith, Hines Ward, Donald Driver, and Rashad Jennings as the only NFL players to take home the coveted Mirrorball Trophy.
