An arbitrator appointed by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, has reaffirmed Elliott’s suspension but an appeal filed by the NFLPA leaves him eligible to play in Sunday’s opener against the New York Giants.
Elliott was granted a temporary restraining order against the league in U.S. District Court in Sherman, Texas, on Tuesday. His attorneys have said they intend to take the running back’s case to the federal level if necessary. “Mr. Elliott is looking forward to having his day in federal court where the playing field will be level and the NFL will have to answer for its unfair and unjust practices,” Elliott’s attorneys said in a statement.
