Robert Yancy was found dead Monday night at his home by police who were called after family members were unable to get in touch with him.
His mother Natalie Cole passed away just 18 months ago at the age of 65 of pulmonary arterial hypertension, which led to her heart failure. Yancy’s father, Marvin, also died of a heart attack at age 34 in 1985, when Yancy was just 7. His grandfather legend, Nat King Cole, died of cancer in 1965, at age 45.
Yancy followed in his family’s footsteps working as a musician. He was a drummer who played in his mother’s touring band and even performed at her funeral in January 2016. Born Robert Adam Yancy he never married and is survived by Cole’s twin sisters, Timolin and Casey Cole Hooker, and five cousins.
Funeral arrangements were pending. Cole Augustus said Yancy would be laid to rest with his mother and grandfather at Forest Lawn in Glendale, California.
