The New England Patriots became the first NFL team to purchase its own jets for travel.
Well, this brings an entirely new meaning to “The Patriots own the Jets!!!”.
ESPN reported Tuesday that the New Englad Patriots have purchased two 767 Boeing wide-body jets for team travel. The planes have been customized with first-class seating, including a full recline option. #SquadGoals.
It also sounds really pricey. ESPN took a wide-gap cost estimate, placing the price tag somewhere between $5 million and $65 million on each aircraft. A brand new plane — which, these are not, costs approximately $200 million per jet.
The team will use one as its primary mode of transportation, and the other as a backup. However, if we know Bill Belichick, it won’t be long before the backup plane turns into a pro bowl caliber flyer.
