The BIG3 Basketball League has suspended Allen Iverson as a result of being MIA.
Allen Iverson pulled a no-call-no-show last week during the BIG3 games in Dallas. Afterwards, BIG3 co-founder, Ice Cube, stated that the league was investigating Iverson’s absence and would make a statement once the details were revealed. Well, that statement has been made clearly, as the league has suspended its biggest star.
Ice Cube explained the reasoning for the suspension:
“Well, we talked about holding up the legitimacy of the league and he knows that him not showing up hurts us,” Ice Cube said. “Who’s happy to be suspended? Nobody. But he understands that it’s a necessary step in the development of the BIG3 who don’t believe what we’re doing and what we’re going to do in the future. Our league is bigger than one man, and we’ve got Hall-of-Famers, champions, All-Stars, first-round picks, and we have to think about them. He understands that.”
Iverson will miss next week’s BIG3 action in Lexington, KY — the penultimate week in BIG3 play. He is expected to return when the league closes out its regular season in Los Angeles.
