Former Olympian Jamie Nieto defies the odds and walks his wife down the aisle on their wedding day.
Former Olympic high jumper Jamie Nieto held up on his promise to walk wife Shevon down the aisle after their wedding and out the door to the awaiting limousine.
For approximately 130 steps, with a stop midway down the aisle of the small church to kiss his wife for a group of photographers.
With no cane or no walker, Nieto held his new wife’s left hand for support.
Nieto, a two-time Olympian, fulfilled his vow Saturday, just 15 months after he suffered a spinal cord injury on a backflip gone bad that left him partially paralyzed, resulting in no feeling in his hands or feet. Doctors weren’t sure if he’d ever walk again.
Nieto, 40, was determined to defy his doctors and make it all the way down the aisle.
