After almost nine years in prison, O.J. Simpson has been granted parole.
Out on bail, fresh outta jail, California dreamin’!!! Free like O.J., all day!!!
O.J. Simpson may be quoting Pac, as he was granted his parole from a Nevada prison Thursday, clearing the path for the ex-football star and actor to be released as soon as Oct. 1.
The 70-year-old Simpson will be free for the first time since 2007, when he was booked for a robbery in Las Vegas that led to him being sentenced to a minimum of nine years and up to 33 years behind bars.
“I’ve done my time, I’d just like to get back to my family and friends, and believe it or not, I do have some real friends,” Simpson said. “Nine years away from my family, it just wasn’t worth it. I’m sorry.”
Simpson appeared via video conference from the Lovelock Correctional Center approximately 100 miles from Carson City, where the parole hearing convened.
He was dressed in standard-issue blue jeans, a light blue button down shirt, white tee and white tennis shoes, as he was seated next to his lawyer Malcolm LaVergne. Simpson’s daughter Arnelle Simpson, his sister Shirley Baker and his friend Tom Scotto were also present.
