There are three bidders competing to be the next owners of the Marlins, but according to Rob Manfred, Major League Baseball commissioner, all three bidders are essentially offering the same amount of money so the Marlins have yet to make a decision.
Michael Jordan is a part of a group that includes Derek Jeter that is competing for ownership of the team. The New York post has reported that the Wayne Rothbaum/Tagg Romney group which is the name of the group that includes Jordan and Jeter is closing in on the sale. It was also announced that rapper Pitbull has also joined the group. To date notable members of the Rothbaum/Romney group include former Florida governor Jeb Bush, Shoney’s CEO David Davoudpour and Marcus Lemonis from the hit show on CNBC “The Profit.”
Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria is seeking $1.2 billion for the team.
