Joel Embiid And LaVar Ball Engaged In Twitter Beef

A war of words (140 characters at a time) between Sixers’ center Joel Embiid and LaVar Ball gets heated.

I’m familiar with rapper beef. I’ve heard of R&B beef. Hell, I’ve even witnessed my share of sports analyst beef. But, this may be my first foray into baller-on-big-baller slash-baller-daddy beef. Well, I can officially thank Philadelphia 76ers’ center Joel Embiid, and the Big Baller himself, LaVar Ball, for that.

Perhaps, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, as neither man has ever really shown a propensity for biting his tongue. Now, one of the weirdest NBA feuds escalated recently, as Joel Embiid sent strong words for the world’s most (in)famous sports dad.

The digital-drama all started on night of the NBA draft, as Embiid tweeted “Please dunk on him so hard that his daddy runs on the court to save him.” This was in response to his teammate Ben Simmons’ “Crazy pills” tweet, which was sent during a LaVar Ball interview.

This past week, LaVar responded as a guest on a Philadelphia radio show, criticizing Embiid and Co. for tweeting like they do although they’ve never accomplished anything and have always been hurt in the NBA.

Via Philly.com:

“When you don’t win, and don’t even make the playoffs, and don’t even stay on the court long enough, that’s the best thing you can do—is tweet and make some stuff. Ain’t nobody else doing that, because they’re working on their games in the gym. These guys ain’t played a game, [are] always hurt, and [are] at the bottom of the totem pole. So guess what? Get your [rear ends] off the goddamn Tweeter and get in the gym.”

Embid upped the ante with this eloquent response via Instagram livestream:

I’m quite sure it won’t take much time until Ball responds — maybe on the Ball family’s new reality show?

I do know this much. Another first for me will be highly anticipating the first game between two non-playoff teams!
