Eric B. & Rakim have announced that they will reunite for a show to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their classic Paid In Full album.
The word “legend” gets tossed around far too frequently in Hip Hop. A couple of names that truly fit the bill are linking back up.
Legendary Hip Hop duo, Eric B. & Rakim, joined Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning on yesterday to announce that they will be reuniting for a special show to commemorate the 30th anniversary of their Paid In Full album.
Eric B. & Rakim will be performing their game-changing album at the iconic Apollo Theater in New York on July 7.
As if that announcement wasn’t enough, they also revealed that they will not be alone. In reply to host Laura Stylez’s question about surprises for the night, Eric B. stated, “We got so many people, we might not even get any records off. We tryna bring the world in with us.”
The one-night-only event will mark the pair’s first performance together in over 20 years, since they toured in support of their 1992 album Don’t Sweat The Technique.
The group’s Twitter account had sounded out a return to the game in October of last year, and even asked fans what city they should choose for kicking off their “tour.”
The anniversary show isn’t being hailed as part of a broader tour, in fact it’s being promoted as “one night only,” but hey, it’s a start. Hopefully something even bigger comes of it.
Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.
