Tiger woods issued a statement following his arrest on DUI charges in Jupiter Florida early Monday.
The statement read: “I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions. I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realize the mix of medications affected me so strongly.”
Woods goes on … “I would like to apologize with all my heart to my family, friends, and the fans. I expect more from myself, too. I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again.
I fully cooperated with law enforcement, and I would like to personally thank the representatives of the Jupiter Police Dept. and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office for their professionalism.”
Woods obviously has a great lawyer, but this incident should raise eyebrows. Woods has had to pull out of 22 events since 2002 citing various injuries. The reaction he had to the prescribed medications that were cited as the reason for his arrest, could be a signal to larger problems that Woods could be facing. Celebrities like Micheal Jackson, Rush Limbaugh, and Eminem are just a few that have battled addiction issues. The 2008 US Open, Woods last major victory seems like a lifetime ago.
