Shaquille O’Neal Recently Announced He’s Running For Sheriff in 2020.
Former basketball star and current sports analyst Shaquille O’Neal recently said he is running for Sheriff. The 4-time NBA champion has residency in both Florida and Georgia but, could possibly seek office near Atlanta in an upcoming 2020 election. Shaq is no stranger to law enforcement. He is a current reserve sheriff’s deputy in Florida, and is also an honorary sheriff’s deputy in Clayton County Georgia. Recent tensions between citizens and law enforcement have caused many to want to bridge that gap. In a recent interview with an NBC affiliate in Atlanta , O’Neal said:
“This is not about politics for me. This is something that I’ve always wanted to do. This is about bringing people closer together. When I was coming up, people loved and respected the police — the deputies. And I want to be the one to bring that back, especially in the community that I serve.”
Shaq was a force to be reckoned with on the basketball court. Standing at 7 foot 1 inch, he was ranked 7th all-time in points scored. He won 3 championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, and 1 with the Miami Heat alongside Dwayne Wade. He is currently a co-host on TNT’s Inside the NBA with Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, and Charles Barkley. Criminals beware there may be a new Sheriff in town, Sheriff Shaq….
