Eight teams remain. Who will move on to play in the conference championships?
This year has been amazing. Coming into the season, who would have claimed that the Falcons, Cowboys, and Texans would have made it this far? Go figure!
This week should be another great week of games. Each game is a rematch of previous matches.
Last week, I went 4-0, so I got a case of the BIG HEAD! Plus I was right on Clemson upsetting Alabama.
So let’s go!
(Home Team in CAPS)
ATLANTA over Seattle – I can’t wait to see the rematch of Richard Sherman vs. Julio Jones. Should be a hard-hitting affair, but I don’t think Seattle is what they have been in the past. Even though Seattle is a veteran, experienced, playoff-tested team – injuries have taken a toll. Thomas will be missed in the secondary – he was their quarterback on defense! The Falcons were an uncalled pass interference penalty away from beating the Seahawks in Seattle earlier in the season. This time it’s in the Georgia Dome and I expect Atlanta to put up points. That is why Seattle will try to run the ball and keep Matt Ryan (my MVP) off the field. Atlanta has so many weapons..
KANSAS CITY over Pittsburgh – It has been moved to the evening game Sunday evening. The Steelers have a great running back and probably the best receiver in the game, but the Chiefs are the better team. I expect Bell to get his touches and have a big game but I also expect the Kansas City Chiefs defense to slow them down. Plus, Ben is a little banged up, but he usually is hurt in the playoffs so that’s not too big of a deal. When I look at these two teams, I think Kansas City matches up well with Pittsburgh. They have a good secondary and pass rush, that should mean turnovers for the Chief defense. Kansas City’s offense also will help by keeping Pittsburgh off the field. Even though Pittsburgh’s defense is better, healthier, and more confident after playing a very good game last week. – this is not the Dolphins
NEW ENGLAND over Houston – This is the only lopsided match-up this weekend. Most people are not giving Houston a chance. Even though their defense is balling – neither am I. Basically, I have little confidence in the Houston offense, despite last week’s performance, to put up points against New England in New England. On the flip side, I expect Tom Brady to do what Tom Brady does – get rid of the ball fast, dink and dunk, and put up points. I do think it will be closer than people think though.
DALLAS over Green Bay – Dallas is coming into this game healthier than they have been at any time in the season. Every Cowboy on the active roster was at practice this week. Still many people don’t give Dallas a shot to beat Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers comes in hotter than any quarterback remaining, but he will be without Jordy Nelson. He still has weapons to put up points though. Prescott and Elliot, rookies in the first NFL playoff game – they have to show up. So far they have been poised and ready for each challenge presented it to them. I don’t have a lot of faith in Green Bay secondary, so Dallas will attack Green Bay through the air when they need to. The key will be the running game for Dallas. Dallas’s offensive line is the truth.com. As long as they play through their strength they have an advantage over EVERY team. I don’t think it’s Dak vs.Aaron. When you look at the totality of their rosters Dallas should prevail.
PS I still think Dez caught the ball!
