The weekend is upon us and the Cocktail of the Week is the Nuclear Daquiri.
You probably think you’ve tried just about every daquiri there is to consume. Therefore, the category has been presumed a bit stale. If that’s the case, try stepping out (and up) to the Nuclear Daquiri. The Nuclear Daiquiri is filled with the aroma of Wray & Nephew Rum and lime, and comes across as almost sweet. On the taste, the sip contains the lime juice and twangy rum notes, and the swallow is much more intense with the heat and flavors of the two overproof spirits — the white rum and the herbal Chartreuse. Meanwhile, the falernum gives enough sweetness to soften the drink as well as adding a lingering clove note. While the drink doesn’t disappoint from an intensity standpoint, it is not as over the top as the ingredients may suggest. The ingredients seem to balance each other well.
- 1 fl oz white overproof rum
- 3/4 fl oz Green Chartreuse
- 1 fl oz fresh squeezed lime juice
- 1/4 fl oz Velvet Felernum
- 1/2 fl oz chilled water
Instructions: Vigorously shake all ingredients with ice and fine drain into chilled glass. Garnish with a lime slice.
