After going 23-7 the last two weeks, I am sitting at 103-72-2.
Last week was a good week for the NFL. We learned a lot about the contenders and pretenders, but I still came out with a lot of questions. Is Gronk done for the entire season, if so how will the Pats make it happen? How did Tampa beat Seattle? Is Aaron Rodgers back? Should I jump back on his train? How about Philly, are they done? Have the Jets drafted yet? Is Revis at safety yet? Is Jameis for real? Are the Browns going to win a game?
(Home Team in CAPS)
ATLANTA over Kansas City – I do not believe in the Chiefs. The Chiefs have a good defense, but their offense is below average without a strong running game. They surprised many with the win against Denver, but Atlanta offense is smoking hot. I expect that they get the game in high 20’s and 30’s and I can’t see KC putting up that many. Matt Ryan and the Falcons’ offense has been balling. With Tampa on Atlanta heals, I see them coming focused to get the win.
NEW ORLEANS over Detroit – Brees and Stafford are having great years, they both have average defense so expect points in this one. Detroit tends to keep it close and unlike past years they are playing well at the end. The difference maker should be Mark Ingram. Last week he ran through the Rams for over 150 and two scores.
NEW ENGLAND over Los Angeles – Brady is hurt and Gronk is out. I am still picking the Patriots. Pats struggled against the Jets, but Pats have to be licking their chops because they are facing a young QB in Jared Goff in Boston. It is an opportunity for Goff to demonstrate his abilities, but I don’t seeing it happen.
SEATTLE over Carolina – Simply put, I do not trust the Panthers. Seattle has to be make up for last week’s debacle. In Seattle, I am going with the Seahawks.
JETS over Indianapolis – Jets can’t keep losing. They played a little better against New England, but that was a rival. Even with Luck back, I think the Jet’s offense will put up more points.
Denver over JACKSONVILLE – I came into the season a believer in the Jags, but Bortles, the wide receiver play, and the running game has proven to be patently terrible. The Broncs have to win this to keep pace with the Raiders and Chiefs. Their defense is strong enough, but their offense has been up and down. Even with Paxton Lynch getting to start his second game of the year, the Jags offense will not put up enough points. The Jags offense line will not stop Von Miller and D. Ware.
PITTSBURGH over Giants – This is the game of the week. Giants are coming in hot, but so is Roethlisberger. He seems to be finding his rhythm. It should be an exciting game as the Giants defense puts pressure on Big Ben. The Steeler running attack is going to be put in the work.
Houston over GREEN BAY– I jumped of the Rodgers train last week and it cost me. A banged Rodgers is not going to pull me back on, despite his great performance last week. Brock Osweiler has been playing better, so the 4th year receiver DeAndre Hopkins has been more prevalent in the offense. This could be Brock’s signature game of the year. A Lambeau win would be great for his resume. I expect Lamar Miller to have a good game.
Washington over ARIZONA – – Cousins is one of the hottest QBs in the game right now. I think he will be the difference.
SAN DIEGO over Tampa Bay – Tampa Bay is coming in hot, but so is Phillip Rivers. San Diego is better that their record, so I expect them to move the ball and score point against Tampa.
CINCINNATI over Philadelphia – Both teams have been in a funk recently, so someone is going to feel a lot better after Sunday and the loser…not so much. Bengals have to win out to even have a shot to the playoffs, so they are in do-or-die mode. Philly has played well defensively, but their offense lacks wide receiver play. Wentz has played ok this season, but the offense is built around short passes and Sproles. Dalton and AJ green should be enough in this one.
BALTIMORE over Miami – The Dolphins are on a roll. Mainly behind a steady Tannehill and a great Miami’s running game. The problem for Miami will be the Ravens’ defense, especially the defensive line. Their front seven is the best in the game. Can Joe Flacco step his game up is the question?
CHICAGO over San Francisco
OAKLAND over Buffalo
Dallas over Minnesota
