With the injury to Adrian Peterson and the emergence of several young players, which player do you think currently holds the title as best running back in the NFL?
For the better part of the last decade, it’s fairly safe to say that Minnesota Vikings workhorse Adrian Peterson has ruled the roost among NFL running backs. However, Peterson is done for the year with a knee injury and is likely done for the year. While it’s never good money to bet against Peterson, at 31 years-old, there’s no guarantee Peterson will ever be the same dominant force. In his absence, several young players have stepped up to lay possible claim to his throne.
Pittsburgh Steelers back, Le’Veon Bell, is a dynamic, well-rounded back with the ability to churn out yards running, catching out of the backfield and even playing a dominant role as a wide receiver. Dallas Cowboy’s rookie sensation, Ezekiel Elliott, is as talented a rookie runner as the NFL has seen since Peterson. David Johnson of the Arizona Cardinals is a big, fast and versatile back who doesn’t receive a lot of publicity because of where he plays. DeMarco Murray has seen a bit of a resurgence in Tennessee, as has Buffalo Bills star LeSean McCoy. You absolutely can’t deny the talents Jay Ajayi and Melvin Gordon in Miami and San Diego, respectively.
So, we ask you…who is currently the NFL’s best running back?
