2017 NFL Mock Draft: 3 Round Mid-season Edition

Now that we’re halfway through the 2016 NFL season, we take a look at how the first three rounds of the 2017 NFL Draft could play out.

If you’re a football fan, you know quite well that there is really no such thing as an off-season. Which also means that there’s never a bad time to look forward to next year…especially if you’re a Cleveland Browns fan! Yes, the “Factory of Sadness” appears headed back to its familiar spot, picking first overall in the draft. Will they go for one of the quarterbacks in a mildly underwhelming class of passers? How about a once-in-a-generation running back like LSU’s Leonard Fournette. It sure would be hard to pass on a talent like Texas A&M pass rusher, Myles Garrett.

Enough of me yapping! Let’s get down to this mock! Enjoy!

ROUND ONE

PICK

TEAM SELECTION POS SCHOOL ANALYSIS
1 Cleveland Browns Myles Garrett DE Texas A&M After passing on the top QB prospects in 2016, I see the Browns taking the best player in the draft in Garrett.
2 San Francisco 49ers Mitch Trubisky QB N Carolina We’ve yet to see the perfect fit at QB for Chip Kelly. What we do know is that that guy is not currently on the 49ers roster.
3 Chicago Bears Malik McDowell DT Michigan St Chicago goes with another defensive building block instead of reaching for a QB.
4 Jacksonville Jaguars Leonard Fournette RB LSU The Jags have tried everything in the draft. This time, they go after a generational talent at what is not a great position of need.
5 Carolina Panthers Jonathan Allen DE Alabama The Panthers have no consistent pass rush off the edge. Allen is as dominant a player as you’ll see coming out of college.
6 New York Jets Teez Tabor CB Florida Darrelle Revis is nearing the end of his rope. A talent like Tabor would be a perfect addition.
7 Indianapolis Colts Dalvin Cook RB Florida St People have been predicting Frank Gore’s demise for 5 years now. It’s finally come.
8 San Diego Chargers Jabril Peppers S Michigan Regardless of where he lines up, Peppers can be an imact player from day 1.
9 Baltimore Ravens Tim Williams OLB Alabama Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumervil are past their primes. It’s time to find some new blood in the pass rush.
10 Tennessee Titans (from LA) Marlon Humphrey CB Alabama When was the last time Tennessee fielded a top flight CB? So, yeah.
11 Miami Dolphins Quincy Wilson CB Florida The lesser-known cover man out of Florida, Wilson may have higher upside than Tabor.
12 Tampa Bay Buccanners Jamal Adams S LSU Chris Conte and Bradley McDougald are the starting safeties in Tampa. Adams is an immediate upgrade.
13 New Orleans Saints Derek Barnett DE Tennessee The Saints need more than just what Cam Jordan can offer off the edge. Barnett is a similar player.
14 Arizona Cardinals DeShone Kizer QB Notre Dame Kizer slides, but his physical skills are evident. Carson Palmer is winding down.
15 Cincinnati Bengals Reuben Foster LB Alabama Another physical tone-setter on the defensive side of the ball is much needed.
16 Tennessee Titans Corey Davis WR W Michigan Davis is not the biggest name, but he’s got the skills set to be phenomenal on the next level.
17 Detroit Lions Christian McCaffrey RB Stanford The Lions have been trying to fill Barry Sanders’ shoes since he retired. Why not draft the man that broke Barry’s collegiate records.
18 Buffalo Bills JuJu Smith-Schuster WR USC The Bills need a talent infusion at receiver. Especially if Sammy Watkins can’t stay healthy.
19 Washington Lowell Lotulelei DT Utah Washington could use a big body in the middle of that defense. Lowell fits the bill, much like his older brother, Star.
20 Cleveland Browns (from PHI) Deshaun Watson QB Notre Dame Watson’s slide is Cleveland’s gain . The Brown can’t resist taking a QB with this potential.
21 New York Giants O.J. Howard TE Alabama More weapons for Eli Manning that will continue to diversify the offense.
22 Denver Broncos Cam Robinson OT Alabama Robinson slides, as there just isn’t much offensive tackle in the middle of round one. He’s potential stud though.
23 Green Bay Packers Dan Feeney OG Indiana The release of Josh Sitton before the 2016 season has hampered this team’s running game. Feeney is a top flight prospect.
24 Kansas City Chiefs Zach Cunningham LB Vanderbilt Derrick Johnson is gettig older and Cunningham is a Johnson Clone. Perfect fit.
25 Pittsburgh Steelers Carl Lawson OLB Auburn Injuries may be a concern with Lawson. But, there isn’t a more fierce pass rusher in this draft class. The Steelers could use every bit of it.
26 Atlanta Falcons Marquis Haynes OLB Ole Miss Vic Beasley has started to live up to his draft billing, but there is still need for more juice in the pass rush. Haynes is a similar prospect.
27 Houston Texans Malik Hooker S Ohio St Hooker, while very raw, has the tools to become an elite pro safety. Houston needs playmakers on the defenseive side of the ball.
28 Seattle Seahawks Ryan Ramczyk OT Wisconsin The biggest flaw on the Seahawks very flawed offense is a lack of pass protection on the edges. Ramczyk has been one of the bigger surprises in college football this year.
29 Philadelphia Eagles (from MIN) Desmond King CB Iowa Lack of coverage ability haunted Philly late against Dallas. That can be expected against elite teams.
30 Oakland Raiders Roderick Johnson OT Florida St Folks have been trying to replace Donald Penn for years. Although he’s not playing horribly, a young replacement could be of good use.
31 Dallas Cowboys John Ross WR Washington Terrance Williams is inconsistent and in a contract year. Ross is a speedster that would compliment Dez Bryant quite well.
32 New England Patriots Mike Williams WR Clemson Talk about a steal. Classic Patriots pick, getting an elite talent like Williams at the back end of the first round.
