Heisman Watch: Jackson Still Leading The Pack

Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson continues to impress his way to the front of Heisman conversation.

download-2The college football season is past the halfway point and the Heisman trophy conversation is really starting to heat up. Regardless of how high the temperature gets, one player has dominated Heisman talk all season long. Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson is the most dynamic, most productive player in the college game. With another season-defining, game-winning play this past Saturday against Virginia put another stamp in Jackson’s Heisman passport.

So, where’s does that leave other players, such as Michigan’s do-it-all defender Jabril Peppers, Clemson QB Deshaun Watson and Washington passer Jake Browning, in Heisman contention? Well, those guys (and a few more), are all fighting to catch Jackson and earn a trip to New York.

Let’s see how the contenders line up in our latest Heisman Watch.

1. Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville

Jackson has been electric the entire season. He’s leading the nation, being responsible for an astounding 39 touchdowns.

2. Jake Browning, QB, Washington

Jake Browning
Browning, a sophomore, has been impressive,, leading the Huskies to an undefeated record and top-five ranking. Washington still has to face USC (home) and Washington State (road) before the end of the regular seaosn.

3. Jabril Peppers, LB, Michigan

You’re likely to find Peppers lined up anywhere from linebacker, safety, cornerback, covering the slot… or even in the offensive backfield.

4. Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson

Ridiculously high expectations seemed to haunt Watson early in the season. But, as he showed against Florida State on Saturday, he’s still got the goods to be in the Heisman running.
